PC Vs Mac – what’s the better option?

It can be difficult deciding what equipment is more likely to best suit your needs – particularly if you aren’t fully up to speed with the advantages and disadvantages of what’s available. Take the choice between Apple and Windows for example, which one is right for you?

At PC Net we are open-minded about both Windows-based operating systems and machines, and Apple Mac computers. We tend to use Microsoft computers, but we also have Apple i-Phones!

What’s the difference?

The difference between a PC and Mac often comes down to software and user experience – meaning it’s largely a matter of personal choice. if you have an iPad or MacBook, they can synch to your iPhone more easily, however, most of the business world uses Microsoft/Windows-based machines. The pros and cons:

  • The Windows operating system has been developed over many years by Microsoft to be flexible and compatible with most app’s.
  • Traditionally, Apple Mac’s have been loved by the design industry, but PC’s are the “go to” machine for gamers.
  • PCs are more modifiable than Macs, offering both better hardware and configuration options.

Considering your options

When it comes to making your decision, one of the main things to think about is what do you want your PC or Mac for – what exactly do you want it to do?

If it is a niche application, you may need to know what platform it runs best on. Some applications need a minimum spec in order to run and can include graphics cards and processing power. It’s always best to check this out before you take the plunge and make that all-important purchase.

Another consideration has to be your budget. The price is always one of the major concerns when buying a new computer and while Apple computers may look streamlined and appeal to the design conscious, they can also prove to be a costly investment.

Making your decision

In short, there is no right or wrong option when choosing between a PC and Mac, it comes down to what you think will best meet your requirements. The choice between a MacBook and Windows laptop centres on two key factors: your budget, and the types of apps and software experiences you want access to.

Connecting Macs to a Windows-based network is now much easier than ever before and at PC Net we can provide, install and repair either PC’s or Apple Mac’s. For more information about how we can help you, call us on 01743 290588 or email [email protected]
